Things To Look For When Searching for a Virtual Office

A Client's Personal Virtual Office Search Experience...

NYC Virtual Office with Mail Forwarding

Looking for a professional virtual office space can be a little overwhelming. Do you even need office space? I meet clients face to face, so that’s not going to happen in my apartment, and the local coffee shop isn’t exactly professional - baristas, coffee and billiards are fine on my down-time; never to meet with my clients. Then it came to me: a virtual office. With services ranging from a receptionist to mail forwarding , meeting room rental , office equipment, and WiFi, it was a no-brainer.

I was not looking for a mailbox service - I needed something more professional. I can get a mailbox at one of those pack and ship places, but I was looking for a place away from my home office to have face to face meetings or even have my team come in for a big meeting. A mailbox service just isn’t going to cut it. Instead, I found an office that fits my needs, and they offer mail forwarding, so it’s a win-win.

Another perk of the first-rate virtual office I chose is that is has private meeting room on site available on a hourly basis. So if you’re renting a small apartment like I am, or simple don't want to mix business with your own personal living space, you can still have several people come to your virtual office without it being uncomfortable. It will be particularly convenient when it’s time to start interviewing. Surprisingly, this is not as common as I thought it would be. Many companies offer
meeting rooms , but their meeting site is somewhere else... Strange.

One thing I did have to look out for, is what’s called a “re-seller.” A re-seller is a middleman; a company that claims to have "multiple locations" then jacks up the prices for the same services you can get directly from the actual virtual office provider. So for example, if I want to rent a space at XYZ Virtual Office Company and I sign-up via the re-seller's website, the re-seller would take care of all of my needs while increasing the prices from XYZ Virtual Office Company to cover their time, expense and profit margin. No thanks. I’ll go straight to the source - and I did with
VirtualNYCoffice.com .

Shopping for a virtual office doesn’t have to be scary; you just need to know what you want. Do your research and be sure to contact several offices in person (the actual Virtual Office source, not the re-seller) before making a decision; you want to be happy in your “second home” without having to pay unnecessary third-party re-seller fees.
